Settings — User Guide
Module: HR Payroll
Audience: Payroll administrators, system administrators
Version: 1.0.0
Last updated: 2026-07-22
Overview
Settings is where you configure how payroll calculates payslips: tax tables, earnings and deduction types, insurance, column formulas, module integrations, currency rates, and staff permissions. Open Payroll → Settings and use the left sidebar to switch tabs.
Configure settings before entering monthly data (employees, attendance, deductions) and creating pay slip runs.
Prerequisites
- Permission: Settings → View (open tabs). Create or Edit to save most tabs.
- Data integration and Reset data require an administrator account.
- Optional modules (HR Profile, Timesheets, Commissions) must be active before their integration checkboxes become enabled.
Settings tabs at a glance
| Tab | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Income tax rates | Progressive tax brackets for PAYE calculation |
| Income tax rebates | Rebate codes and values applied per employee |
| Earnings list | Pay components (salary, allowances) for payslip columns |
| Salary deductions list | Deduction types that appear on Deductions screen |
| Insurance list | Insurance types for the Insurance screen and payslip columns |
| Payroll columns | Column order, formulas, and data sources for pay slip runs |
| PDF payslip template | PDF export layouts linked to pay slip templates |
| Data integration | Connect HR Profile, Timesheets, and Commissions modules |
| Currency rates | Exchange rates and auto-fetch settings |

When HR Profile integration is enabled, the Earnings list tab syncs from HR Profile instead of the standalone earnings grid.
