Overview
The Organizational Chart shows your company’s department hierarchy and reporting relationships. Use it to create and maintain departments (units), assign managers, and visualize structure.
Prerequisites

- Create departments: Organizational Chart → Create (or administrator).
Step-by-step: View the org chart
- Go to HR Profile → Organizational Chart.
- Review the department list and hierarchy.
- Use View department chart to open the visual chart (names, managers, headcount).
What you see depends on your role:
- HR / administrators: Full company hierarchy.
- Department managers (view own): Departments you manage and their sub-units.
Step-by-step: Add or edit a department
- On the Organizational Chart page, click New unit (or edit an existing row).
- Complete the form:
- Department name (required)
- Parent department (optional — builds nested structure)
- Department manager (optional)
- Email and calendar settings if used
- Save.
Expected result: The department appears in the list and on the visual chart.
Step-by-step: Delete a department
- Select delete on the department row.
- Confirm if prompted.
Note: Departments still linked to staff or child departments cannot be deleted until references are removed.
Common issues
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Empty or limited chart | View own permission; you are not a department manager | Request full view or assign as manager |
| Warning about department email | Department email matches a staff email | Change one of the addresses |
| Cannot delete department | Staff or sub-departments still assigned | Reassign staff and children first |
